In addition to providing service to local Chicago businesses throughout the day, bike messengers have grown to become a large part of the city's local culture.

According to a recent article in Northwestern's Medill Reports, which is a publication released by the Medill School of Journalism and Marketing, bike messengers have achieved a sort of cult hero status as adventurers that bravely face the urban jungle, just to get the day's deliveries in on time.

Indeed, hiring a bike messenger service is not only a effective way for businesses to add to their green initiatives, it is also very often the fastest way to get scheduled deliveries from points A to B in a city with heavy traffic flow and crowded metro systems.

Transportation around the Loop, for example, can be difficult due to construction and varying access, so many businesses opt instead to call a Chicago courier service, which can provide companies with bike messengers, no matter what type of logistic services they need.

"The bike messenger service plays a critical part in the success of our business," Jacqueline Carlis, one of the account managers at the law firm McDermott, Will and Emery, told Northwestern's Medill Reports. "Without them, someone would have to go back and forth to have our documents signed. With bike messengers, we can focus on the clients."

Legal documents that need to be signed are very common deliveries, as are bank forms and blueprints. In addition, many companies in the food service industry of Chicago are increasing their delivery services, so business owners from these sectors very often hire bike messengers to deliver food, because of their cheap prices and fast service.
